At Nyahepo we build wells for communities which do not have access to clean water. why wells; Wells are important to all societies. In many places wells provide a reliable and ample supply of water for home use and irrigation since water is at the center of economic and social development, it is vital to maintain health, grow food, manage the environment and create jobs, despite water’s importance globally 2 billion of people lack access to safely managed drinking water and 3.6 billion of people lack access to safely managed sanitation.
More than 820 million of people suffer from hunger. According to the UN, 821 million of people in the world were undernourished in 2017. This is equivalent to one in nine people on the planet. Additionally about one in 3 people suffer from malnutrition. This is the reason why we provide food for elderly and families in our communities.
All children, particularly orphans, need a safe place to grow. Caring for orphans and nurturing them with the basics like food and clean clothes, and access to education increases the likelihood of them breaking the cycle of poverty and bringing change to impoverished communities. Our Education programs focuses on educating the orphans.
Building houses for vulnerable families gives them security and comfort, and a better way of life. Many of these families do not have a place to call a home and due to high poverty levels it becomes impossible for them to build a place to stay. With little resources, Nyahepo builds houses for the vulnerable families. There are still many challenges, and we have a long way to go in our work to reach out to vulnerable and marginalized households but we continues to look for opportunities to enable us to make a difference.
Poultry keeping helps the people in the community to improve their standards of living since they can start getting income from selling birds.
